Tom Holland has shared thoughts on the ongoing discussion around artificial intelligence and creativity.

During his latest media interaction, the Spider-Man star reflected on what separates creative expression from technological output.

While appearing on Spain’s El Hormiguero with Zendaya, the actor said, "Creativity is safe from AI because creativity has to do with the human experience. It's about emotions, it's about understanding one another."

He expanded on the idea that AI lacks emotional depth or lived experience.

"AI can sift through data, but it can't understand people's emotions. It doesn't understand the difference between being happy and being sad. The way artists paint, it's not about what they're copying, it's about expressing themselves. So I feel protected."

His remarks arrive amid wider industry debate about AI’s role in entertainment, with directors like Guillermo del Toro cautioning about a decline in “cinema literacy,” while figures such as Reese Witherspoon, Sandra Bullock, and Martin Scorsese have taken more varied positions on AI’s growing influence.

On the workfront, Holland is next due to appear in The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, both slated for release in the coming months, with Zendaya also part of both projects.
