Jessie Buckley looked back on putting her body on line in order to bring life to a whole new take on the Bride of Frankenstein.
Directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal, The Bride is the punk-inspired reimaging of the classic story, Frankenstein.
In an interview with the Entertainment Weekly, she revealed that during the last days of filming, she broke a bone of her toe, however she kept going through pain.
Recalling the moment, the Hamnet star said it happened during a gun firing scene where she "overextended my toe by falling backwards too many times."
In the following days, the actress remembered she had her "toe in size of a tree."
However, the injury was a blessing in disguise as it helped her in nailing the role more appropriately.
"It was just so swollen, but that's also fun," she added. "And I'm meant to have one leg shorter than the other anyway, so it probably helped."
In the upcoming film, Frank (Christian Bale) seeks out mad scientist Dr. Euphronious (Annette Bening) to dig up and reanimate a woman's corpse to create something more significant than the failed experiment that appeared in first few minutes of film.
As the female monster comes to life, the bride, her passion, curiosity and disinhibition captive Frank and the two monsters fall in love.
The Bride! is slated for release on March 6.
