Odessa A’zion has set a new standard with a shocking decision to exit A24’s upcoming adaptation of Deep Cuts.

The Marty Supreme actress took to her social media to share that she paid attention to the casting backlash that she received and has decided to take action on it.

Since the casting for Sean Durkin’s upcoming project was announced, the 25-year-old’s casting sparked outrage since the character she was tied to Zoe Gutierrez from Holly Brickley’s novel, has Mexican heritage and is Jewish.

In a series of Instagram stories Odessa wrote, “Guys!! I am with ALL of you and I am NOT doing this movie. F**k that. I’m OUT.” adding, ““THANK YOU guys for bringing this to my attention... I’m so sorry that this happened.”

"It is SO important for me to let you in on how it all went down: I went in for Percy, but was offered Zoe instead and instantly said yes! I’m so pissed y’all, I hadn’t read the book and should have paid more attention to all aspects of Zoe before accepting…” the actress added.

Odessa went on to say that the role should go to someone who is meant to do it, and that there were many people like this and she is excited to see who eventually gets the role.

Notably, the I Love LA actress added that she just got excited when she was offered the role and had been busy do didn’t do proper research but was thankful that her fans let her know.
