The Royal Family will continue to keep their distance from Meghan Markle as long as she continues to use her royal title in commercial ventures, a royal commentator has claimed.
Since stepping back from royal life in 2020, the Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry have pursued financial independence through media deals, production projects and brand partnerships, often using their titles, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, in the process.
According to royal commentator Kinsey Schofield, this remains a major sticking point for the monarchy and could be preventing any meaningful reconciliation between Meghan, Harry and senior members of the Royal Family.
Speaking to Fox News Digital, Schofield said Meghan’s continued use of her title for business purposes directly conflicts with Harry’s apparent desire to repair family relationships.
“Their confidence in leaving the Royal Family was rooted in their perceived popularity,” she explained.
“They’ll keep putting themselves out there because they need to make money, but Meghan’s commercial ambitions conflict with Harry’s desire to rebuild royal bridges.”
Schofield added that the issue of titles remains central to the ongoing rift, particularly as Meghan continues to use the Duchess of Sussex title in projects such as her Netflix series With Love, Meghan.
“As long as she uses her title for business, the Royal Family will keep their distance,” she said, adding: “And as long as the family keeps that distance, Harry’s popularity will continue to suffer.”
The claim comes amid ongoing speculation about whether Prince Harry’s relationship with King Charles and Prince William could improve in the coming years.
