King Charles risks fallout with Prince William, Kate Middleton over new proposal

King Charles may be heading toward an uncomfortable clash with Prince William, and Kate Middleton over major plans for a huge slurry pit on the Sandringham estate, just a short distance from the Wales’ Norfolk home.

According to newly filed planning documents from King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council, the King intends to build an enormous manure-storage facility capable of holding more than two million gallons of slurry.

The pit would be situated less than a mile from Anmer Hall, William and Kate’s Grade II-listed Georgian residence gifted to the couple by Queen Elizabeth II as a wedding present.

As the proposal awaits approval, concern among locals has intensified, raising questions about how the couple themselves might feel about a massive manure pit so close to their family home.

One neighbour told the Daily Mail: "Everyone is worried it will create a massive stink. Goodness knows what William and Kate think about it. It is a bit ironic that the landowner responsible for the plans is William's father, the King."

Local councillors have echoed residents’ concerns. County councillor Stuart Dark suggested the application may face either refusal or approval only under strict conditions, due to its potential environmental and residential impact.

The looming dispute comes at a tense moment for the Royal Family, following reports that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, stripped of all royal titles, is expected to relocate to Sandringham after losing his long-term home at Royal Lodge.
