Billy Bob Thornton shares intimate insight into life with Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie’s ex-husband Billy Bob Thornton has made a surprising revelation as he reflects on their wild romance.

The 70-year-old Hollywood veteran insisted his bond with Jolie remains as strong as ever, more than two decades after their headline-grabbing marriage came to an end.

Thornton, who tied the knot with the 50-year-old actress in 2000 before divorcing in 2003, says he still has nothing but admiration for the Oscar-winning star. 

Speaking to Extra, he gushed: “She’s awesome. A great friend of mine — and yeah, that’ll never go away.”

The Landman actor, who recently appeared at the 2025 CMA Awards, has been busy teaming up with rising country sensation Carter Faith, even starring in one of her music videos. 

He’s convinced the 25-year-old singer is destined for superstardom, revealing: “She is great. She’s going to be a big star.”

Despite their split, Thornton insists his marriage to Maria star remains “one of the greatest times” of his life. 

He told Rolling Stone that the pair enjoyed a “civilised” break-up, adding that they remain “very, very close friends” after simply realising their lifestyles were too different.
