Fugess star Pras Michael has been sentenced to 14 years in prison acter being convicted.

The rapper rose to fame from the hip-hop trio Fugess alongside Wyclef Jean and Lauryn Hill.

Now, the rapper has been convicted on 10 charges, including acting as an unregistered agent of a foreign government.

The 53-year-old, who was born in New York City, was charged for an international fraud case in April 2023.

The charges were made after he accepted $100 million from disgraced Malaysian financier Jho Low.

He accepted the money to influence the administrations of US Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump.

Pras declined to address the court before US District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly announced his sentence.

Previously, prosecutors had sought for life sentence because he had “betrayed his country for money” and “lied unapologetically and unrelentingly to carry out his schemes.”

“His sentence should reflect the breadth and depth of his crimes, his indifference to the risks to his country, and the magnitude of his greed.”, they wrote.

Pras insisted he “never wanted to be a spy” but found the conduct to be “exciting”.
