The Jumanji jungle is getting crowded again, and fans wouldn’t want it any other way.

Not only are Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan officially back for Columbia Pictures’ newest instalment, but several fan-favourite supporting stars are also returning for round three.

This week, production officially kicked off in Los Angeles under director Jake Kasdan, with Bebe Neuwirth, Danny DeVito, Lamorne Morris, Marin Hinkle, Nick Jonas, and Rhys Darby all confirmed to reprise their roles.

Dan Hildebrand (Game of Thrones) and Jack Jewkes (Criminal Minds) have also joined the cast as new additions.

Jumanji, which started as Chris Van Allsburg’s 1981 picture book about a board game gone wild, first became a beloved classic in 1995 with Robin Williams leading the adventure.

The franchise was rebooted in 2017 with Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, transforming the board game into a video game universe and scoring over $962 million worldwide.

Its 2019 sequel, Jumanji: Next Level, followed with an $800 million global haul.

Plot details for the upcoming sequel are being kept tightly under wraps, but insiders confirm the script comes from returning writers Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg.

Jonas reprises his fan-favourite role as “Seaplane” McDonough, the video game pilot, while Darby returns as Nigel Billingsley, the eternally energetic field guide who pops up to brief players on their next quest.

DeVito will once again play Eddie, Spencer’s grandfather, with Hinkle returning as Spencer’s mum.

Neuwirth, who appeared in both the original Robin Williams film and Next Level, is also back, along with Morris, who made a brief cameo in the last movie as Heater Guy.

Matt Tolmach, Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, and Kasdan are producing the latest instalment, which is set to hit theatres on December 11, 2026.
