Meghan Markle’s latest festive announcement has stirred a lively debate online, and not all the reactions were merry.
The Duchess of Sussex revealed that the Christmas edition of her Netflix series With Love, Meghan will premiere on December 3, coinciding with Germany’s state visit to the UK.
To celebrate the reveal, Meghan shared a tastefully curated image of her holiday tablescape on Instagram, featuring sleek glassware, brown taper candles, ribbon accents, and minimalist evergreen sprigs.
But while the Duchess aimed for understated seasonal elegance, royal watchers had other opinions entirely.
Critics slammed the look as “bland,” “colourless,” and “not remotely festive,” with one user on X writing: “The centrepiece is a clear globe with a sad little ribbon. Not even a proper Christmas bow.”
Another added: “Brown candles, for Christmas? This could be any dinner party. Where’s the holiday charm?”
Some felt the aesthetic lacked emotional warmth: “It looks like a behind-the-scenes shot, not a finished tablescape. There’s no focal point.”
Still, not everyone was amused.
Many fans expressed genuine excitement for the upcoming special, saying they “can’t wait” to see Meghan’s holiday vision come to life on screen.
