King Charles’s former royal butler has revealed the truth about the monarch’s relationship with Princess Beatrice, and it’s far warmer than many royal watchers expected amid her father Andrew Mountbatten Windsor’s ongoing scandal.
Beatrice, 37, has taken on a new role as Deputy Patron of The Outward Bound Trust, stepping up six years after her disgraced father was forced to step down as Royal Patron.
And while Andrew has now lost his titles, honours and even his Royal Lodge home, his eldest daughter remains firmly embraced by the King.
Grant Harrold, who worked for Charles from 2007 to 2011, insists the monarch is “very close” to Beatrice and continues to support her despite Andrew’s downfall.
“I’m not surprised,” Grant told The Mirror.
“She’s done brilliant work with these organisations. They value her and won’t cut ties because of her father’s actions. She’s still a much-loved member of the Royal Family.”
Harrold added that both Charles and Prince William are determined to guide and encourage her through what has become an undeniably difficult period for the York sisters.
Beatrice will now work alongside her uncle Prince Edward as the Trust’s senior royal representatives, continuing the legacy of the late Prince Philip, who championed the organisation for decades.
Outward Bound CEO Martin Davidson hailed the appointment as a “new chapter” for the charity and said Beatrice’s involvement reflects her belief that “adventure changes lives.”
