Meghan Markle came under fire this weekend after being spotted without a poppy during Remembrance Weekend, while Prince Harry proudly sported his on a sleek black suit at Kris Jenner’s 70th birthday celebration in Beverly Hills.
The star-studded, James Bond–themed bash, hosted at Jeff Bezos’s multi-million-pound mansion, saw the Sussexes dressed head-to-toe in black, with Harry’s protective stance toward Meghan drawing headlines.
Yet it was Meghan’s missing poppy that sparked controversy among royal watchers.
Critics accused the Duchess of ignoring the remembrance tradition, but insiders quickly rushed to defend her.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, sources explained that poppies are not readily available in the US, unlike in Commonwealth countries where the emblem is widely sold to commemorate the fallen.
Meghan has previously worn the poppy with pride, including during her 2023 visit to US Navy SEALs in San Diego and in joint appearances with Harry marking Remembrance events.
Meanwhile, royal author Tom Bower suggested Harry looked “fed up” being thrust back into the celebrity spotlight.
“He’s worried about what revenge his brother might one day carry out against him and his ambitious wife,” Bower claimed.
