Oscar Isaac is positive about reprising his role as the brave and cocky pilot Poe Dameron in Star Wars, but he is hesitant to work with Disney after they decided to suspend Jimmy Kimmel Live!
The Golden Globe-winning actor addressed the topic of Star Wars during his interview with GQ, published on Monday, November 10.
Recently, Isaac starred in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein as the mad scientist Victor Frankenstein, which was the main focus of the interview.
After the detailed discussion on his new movie, the interviewer recalled that Isaac once said he wouldn’t return to Star Wars unless he needed another house, and asked if he had reconsidered his decision.
“Yeah. I mean, I’d be open to it,” Isaac said, “although right now I’m not so open to working with Disney. But if they can kinda figure it out and, you know, not succumb to fascism, that would be great.”
Isaac is referring to Kimmel’s suspension, as the interview took place two days after ABC and Disney halted production of Jimmy Kimmel Live! following Kimmel’s remarks about Charlie Kirk’s death.
He returned to the airwaves four days after this conversation.
