Madi Diaz shares her experience with Harry Styles in band

Singer-songwriter Madi Diaz is opening up about her time performing in Harry Styles’ touring band, describing the experience as transformative and inspiring. 

Diaz, 39, who was an opening act for Styles in 2022, joined his Love on Tour band the following year, giving her a front-row view of the Fine Line performer in action.

“I think we just liked watching each other, and he was always interested in what I was reading or listening to, and vice versa,” Diaz recalled, highlighting the mutual respect they shared on the road.

The singer was also charmed by Style's leadership and attention to detail, as she admitted that she liked watching his treatment of people.

“He remembers everybody's name," she said, "he remembers what every single person, every cog in the wheel, does, and goes out of his way to make people feel important and seen and special in their role."

Diaz believes this habit of Style's is a "really beautiful way to operate in a team sense.”

Diaz also tapped that singing backup vocals allowed her to access a side of herself she couldn’t on her own shows. 

“I don't know if I would've been able to access that part of myself when it's about me… When it's my show, my songs are f---ing sad,” she said. 

Diaz embraced the joy of performing, strumming her guitar, skipping across the stage, and discovering anew the sheer fun of making music. 

“Oh my God, I was having fun playing music,” she said.
