Hollywood legend Morgan Freeman is voicing his concern and opposition against the use of artificial intelligence to create his voice.

In a new interview with The Guardian, the Oscar-winning actor slammed the increasing trend of using AI to generate his voice, calling it “robbery” when done without consent.

“I’m a little PO’d, you know,” Freeman admitted. “I’m like any other actor, don’t mimic me with falseness. I don’t appreciate it, and I get paid for doing stuff like that. So if you’re gonna do it without me, you’re robbing me.”

The Shawshank Redemption star’s dig was directed towards the industry’s focus on using AI-generated voices to cut costs, often without rewarding the original artist.

His comments seemed to be the total opposite of those of his fellow veteran James Earl Jones, who has wholeheartedly allowed digital replication of his voice.

Freeman, however, would not like to follow in his footsteps.

The Now You See Me actor revealed that his voice has already been used without his consent in several projects, resulting in legal action from his lawyers. “Well, I tell you, my lawyers have been very, very busy,” he said with a wry smile.

Freeman’s defiant stance highlights a growing concern among Hollywood’s elite about the ethical use of AI in entertainment and the value of raw human talent that no innovation can truly replicate.
