Robert Downey Jr. expressed his excitement over the return of original X-Men stars Rebecca Romijn and Kelsey Grammer in Avengers: Doomsday.

Praising the actors' comeback as Mystique and Beast, the Marvel star said, "It was a big moment, you and Kelsey being back. I have to say, we nerded out."

Speaking during Entertainment Weekly’s post-Hall H interview at San Diego Comic-Con, the Oscar winner avoided revealing plot details but said having the duo on set "lit up this constellation of excitement," adding, "It's just incredible."

Reflecting on returning as Beast after two decades, Grammer said, "I love the character. I have this sense of this kind of nobility about him that he carries himself with, a deep respect for all life."

Romijn, meanwhile, admitted she was relieved the transformation into Mystique took less time this time around, saying, "Apparently, they were no longer interested in waiting for actors to be processed, so it was much faster."

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to hit theatres on December 18, 2026.
