Meghan Markle’s surprise return to acting has sparked global chatter, and reportedly a few chuckles behind palace doors.
The 44-year-old Duchess of Sussex is set to play herself in the new comedy Close Personal Friends, filmed in Los Angeles, marking her first acting role since leaving Suits in 2018 and the Royal Family in 2020.
While Meghan has yet to comment on the project, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told Express UK that senior royals are likely “amused” by her Hollywood comeback.
“Being part of the Royal Family involves theatre,” Fitzwilliams said.
“They might well reflect that she didn’t play her part as a senior working royal for very long, and then wreaked havoc on the unique family she was part of, for personal gain.”
He added that by playing herself, Meghan’s “self-love is clear for all to see.”
