King Charles has reportedly delivered a firm message to his nieces Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, making it clear that the era of royal privilege without duty is over.
According to royal author Robert Jobson, in his new book The Windsor Legacy, the monarch has “drawn a line” with extended family members, insisting they “stand on their own two feet” and pay their own way.
A palace insider claimed: “The King isn’t running a housing association for distant relatives.”
The source added that non-working royals will no longer enjoy subsidized royal accommodation, with properties now being rented at commercial rates and available to vetted tenants outside the family.
Beatrice currently divides her time between a Cotswolds farmhouse and her state-funded flat at St James’s Palace, while Eugenie splits her life between Portugal and Ivy Cottage on the Kensington Palace grounds.
