Prince Harry has shown his trademark humour after facing mild backlash in Canada for sporting a Los Angeles Dodgers cap during the World Series last week, rather than backing the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Duke of Sussex, who is currently in Toronto for a two-day visit honouring veterans, was gifted a Blue Jays hat at Sunnybrook Hospital’s Veterans Centre and immediately addressed the incident.
“Firstly, I’d like to apologise to Canada for wearing it,” he joked to CTV News.
“Secondly, I was under duress, I didn’t have much choice! I was invited by the [Dodgers] owner, so I was just being polite.”
“When you’re missing a lot of hair and sitting under bright lights, you’ll take any hat that’s available!”
The Prince was in great spirits as he met veterans and war heroes, including 101-year-old Brenda Reid, who served during WWII, during heartfelt visits ahead of Remembrance Day.
