Sydney Sweeney’s real-life pain fueled latest role as Christy Martin

Sydney Sweeney is transitioning her reel-life strength into real life after being betrayed by someone close to her, according to reports.

The Euphoria star, who has been noticed among Hollywood’s fastest-rising talents, has reportedly been a victim of emotional and financial mistreatment.

A source told Page Six that someone in Sweeney’s life “used her and took advantage of her, including financially,” leaving a lasting impact on the actress.

However, her recent role as boxer Christy Martin in the upcoming biopic Christy seems to have helped her reclaim her strength.

“Playing Christy gave her the power to remind herself who she is,” the insider said, describing the role as a turning point for the 27-year-old star.

Sweeney herself has acknowledged the personal growth that came from playing the famed fighter.

“Christy taught me a lot about myself,” she said during the film’s premiere in October. “She taught me how to stand up for myself more and feel stronger in my personal life and my work life.”

Sweeney further reflected on how she and Martin share resilience in their own ways.

“We both fight our own fights in different types of rings. Check in on your friends and make sure they’re all OK,” Sweeney noted.

While the identity of the person who wronged her remains unclear, Page Six recently reported that Sweeney ended her long-term relationship with Jonathan Davino.

The actress is now rumoured to be dating music executive Scooter Braun. Her upcoming film Christy is set to release in cinemas on November 7th, 2025.
