Glen Powell, best known for his breakout role as Lieutenant Jake “Hangman” Seresin in Top Gun: Maverick, is gearing up for one of the biggest moments of his career.
The 37-year-old star is set to make his debut as SNL host later this month, fulfilling what he calls a lifelong dream.
While chatting with Extra, he told the outlet, “There’s nothing probably higher on my bucket list than SNL.”
“I grew up watching it with my family. It meant so much to my dad and mom, so getting to bring my friends and family along for this is really special. I’m just ready to have some fun.”
But while he’s buzzing with excitement over SNL, Powell recently revealed a rather awkward Hollywood encounter.
Appearing on Jake Shane’s Therapuss podcast, he recalled attending a party where a once-beloved star, who was “on the ropes” of being cancelled, approached him for a photo.
“This person had made some of my favourite movies,” Glen said.
Ever the gentleman, Powell declined the snap, adding, “I was a fan of their work but not their choices.”
Glen seems perfectly poised to light up Studio 8H with his charm, quick wit, and “good nerves.”
Glen Powell gained major attention for his performances in several hit films, including the 2023 romantic comedy Anyone But You opposite Sydney Sweeney, which became a box-office sensation.
Powell previously impressed audiences in Hidden Figures (2016), portraying astronaut John Glenn, and starred alongside Jonathan Majors in the war drama Devotion (2022).
His breakout as a charming lead came earlier with Netflix’s Set It Up (2018).
