Teyana Taylor exits stage mid speech: Billboard issues statement

Teyana Taylor shocked everyone as she exited the stage during her award acceptance speech after being asked to leave immediately.

The 35-year-old musician was honoured with the Visionary Award for her contribution in the musical world.

Although the artist left everyone confused with the move, the screen seemingly appeared blank for an extended time which caused an awkward moment for The Rip star.

She read from the teleprompter: “Teyana Taylor, we have no script for you. Everyone exit stage, right.”

Billboard later shared a statement to address the moment, writing about the “glitch” that stopped the musician from giving her “speech during her well-deserved moment.”

They revealed about another chance that was given to her by Dionne Warwick to “share” her feelings after winning the honours.

The organisers expressed their gratitude towards the All’s Fair star for her “professionalism and patience in the face of an unexpected issue.”

The situation was deemed confusing and deliberate from the organisers as one of the X users pointed out: “They messed up her performance sound, then told Teyana Taylor to exit stage.”

The statement did not calm down the criticism on the organisers as many demanded that they should issue an apology to “Kim Petras and everyone else” who faced the issue.
