Colin Jost recalls Scarlett Johansson’s one-word response to ferry purchase

Colin Jost is revealing how his family reacted to his and Pete Davidson’s infamous, headline-making Staten Island Ferry purchase.

The Saturday Night Live alums brought the decommissioned vessel for $280,000 back in 2022 and the Pop Culture Jeopardy! host opened up about his loved ones’ responses when he initially broke the news.

In an episode of the SmartLess podcast with Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, and Sean Hayes', the 43-year-old said that he first texted his father, who is a Staten Island teacher.

"He literally was like, 'Did you do your homework?' Which is such a teacher thing to say," he said. "I was like, 'Dad, I'm just sort of texting you as a formality. I already bought the boat,'" was how the conversation between Jost and his dad went.

He then texted Johansson, "'Guess what? We own a ferry now,'" he recalled, “And she was like, 'We?'" with the comedian going on to explain his thought process with the purchase on the podcast.

Jost said that he thought about the purchase in a real estate way, adding that him and Davidson have basically had a good return on their investments from a couple events hosted in the boat.
