David Allan Coe has died at 86 and his death occurred on Wednesday, 29th April and the cause of death has been revealed.
The country music singer’s representative has announced his passing, and as per reports the artist was struggling with health issues.
As per The Music Universe, the spokesperson stated “David is a musical treasure,” and that even as his health declined over the years, “David appreciated all of the fans.”
The You Never Even Called Me by My Name singer lived an interesting life, as he spent his early life going in an out prisons and reformatories for crimes such as grand theft auto to possession of burglary tools.
While serving time in prison in the year 1963, Coe claimed he killed a fellow inmate with a mop bucket after the latter threatened him in the shower.
In a 1975 interview the musician said “There were a lot of times when I would actually be in the county jail after being busted and I’d wake up the next morning and say to myself, ‘Oh I’m glad it’s over; I’m glad I’m going back to prison now, where I know I’ll be safe, where I’ll be out of society.’”
However Shelby Singleton, the producer who discovered Coe stated that most of what he says is made-up and embellished.
Notably, the late 86-year-old lived an eccentric life and achieved major success as a singwriting star.
