Queen Camilla played a key role in the decision to strip Prince Andrew of his titles and royal residence, according to royal expert Jennie Bond.
Speaking to Express UK, the former BBC correspondent claimed that Camilla’s influence was felt throughout Buckingham Palace’s landmark statement, which announced the disgraced royal would lose his styles, honours and home at Royal Lodge.
“It’s extremely unusual for a statement of such constitutional gravity to be issued in the name of both the King and Queen,” Bond said.
“Camilla was standing shoulder to shoulder with His Majesty, ensuring the victims of abuse remained the focus.”
The final line of the statement read: “Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain, with the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.”
While insiders stress that the decision was King Charles’s alone, Bond believes the Queen’s compassion “echo loudly” through the Palace’s tone.
