Billie Eilish ‘upsets’ Mark Zuckerberg, divides internet with billionaire callout

Singer Billie Eilish attended Wall Street Journal's Innovator Awards where she grew candid during her acceptance speech.

Having been in the habit of donating much of her wealth, she questioned, "If you're a billionaire, why are you a billionaire?"

Audience members included Mark Zuckerberg and George Lucas, as she continued, "If you have money, it would be great to use it for good things, maybe give it to some people that need it.”

It was revealed that she would be donating $11.5 million raised from her Hit Me Hard and Soft Tour to several different charities and organizations.

Deemed the 2025 Music Innovator, it seems the Lovely singer upset Zuckerberg despite her insistence on the conditions of the current world, “We’re in a time right now where the world is really, really bad and really dark and people need empathy and help more than, kind of, ever, especially in our country.”

People has claimed that while everyone in the room clapped at Eilish’s words, the Facebook creator pointedly did not.

Users on the internet have largely been in support of her sentiments, appreciating her for calling out the hoarding of wealth.

However, fans of certain celebrity billionaires like Taylor Swift have grown defensive and are attacking the younger singer, since Swift has been criticized frequently for her thinly veiled financial schemes.
