With Prince Andrew officially confirming he will no longer use his Duke of York title, royal watchers are already speculating over who could inherit the disgraced dukedom next, and all eyes are on Prince Louis.
Andrew, 65, announced last week that he would relinquish the use of his remaining royal titles and honours.
Traditionally, the Dukedom of York is granted to the second son of the reigning monarch.
This means that once Prince William becomes king, the title could be passed to his youngest son, Prince Louis, when he comes of age or upon marriage.
The title holds deep royal history, both King George V and King George VI were previous Dukes of York, and Queen Elizabeth II was known as Princess Elizabeth of York before her father ascended the throne.
However, after decades of scandal tied to Andrew, royal insiders believe the once-prestigious title may now be “too tainted” to ever be used again.
