Wicked became a cultural phenomenon soon after its release last year, and it seems that the beloved movie’s sequel will also follow suit.
The initial reactions of the witchy sequel, which is set to hit theatres on November 21, Wicked: For Good are out on social media, and it seems like the film might be more brilliant than its predecessor.
“All Good Deeds Go Rewarded in Wicked: For Good. It’s an epic and heartbreakingly tender conclusion to one of the most dynamic friendships in pop culture history,” Destiny Jackson wrote after the viewing in a thread on X (formerly Twitter).
Another reviewer, Jazz Tangcay, wrote, “Get ready because #WickedForGood exceeds all expectations. Jon M. Chu is a genius in the way he brings this to a close,” adding “Can not wait to see it again. I sobbed hard.”
It seems, from the many reviews after the screening, that it contains a moment of emotional catharsis since a number of watchers have remarked that they cried at some point in the film.
The other thing that has been repeatedly noted is that the second film ties in the concepts and storylines explored in the original quite well.
The film title is a nod to a duet between Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo's characters, Elphaba and Glinda, called For Good.
