‘Wicked: For Good’ creator teases MAJOR surprises

Jon M. Chu, the director of Wicked: For Good, opened up about what fans can expect from the highly anticipated sequel.

On what he hopes audiences can receive from the film, he admitted that he wishes that "they get the joy and love of movie one, but there's extra meat on this one."

"This is where you get to see Cynthia [Erivo] and Ariana [Grande] really come to life as actors," Chu explained.

Elaborating on what state the beloved characters of Elphaba and Glinda are in in the coming work, he remarked, "This is their adult selves looking back at their childhood dreams, that are now shattered in front of them. So when you look back, I think people will see only both movies as one, not just the first movie and the second movie.”

Wicked: For Good is the continuation of Wicked, which is a movie adaptation of the prequel musical to The Wizard Of Oz.

On Broadway, the role of Elphaba was originally taken on by Idina Menzel while Kristin Chenoweth did so for Glinda.

Also returning to the movie are Jonathan Bailey (Fiyero), Michelle Yeoh (Madame Morrible), Ethan Slater (Boq), Jeff Goldblum (The Wizard), Marissa Bode (Nessarose), Peter Dinklage (Doctor Dillamond), Bowen Yang (Pfannee) and Bronwyn James (ShenShen).
