Christopher Wilding had a surprising reaction when he got to know about Taylor Swift’s song based on his mom, Elizabeth Taylor.
The Grammy-winning singer’s new album, The Life of a Showgirl’s second track Wildest Dream, was intentionally inspired by Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton’s legendary romance.
Referring to Swift’s nod to Elizabeth, Wilding noted that the singer’s reference to her eyes, Portofino, and White Diamonds was “especially magical.”
Wilding, who was the son of Elizabeth and her second husband, Michael Wilding, played the song “the day it became available,” he said.
Wilding, 70, the second son of Taylor and her second husband, British actor Michael Wilding, listened to the track “the day it became available,” he said.
A force so powerful that, even 14 years after her passing on March 23, 2011, at 79, from congestive heart failure, Hollywood’s last true icon continues to captivate and inspire a new generation.
Swift nodded to Elizabeth through her lyrics “cry my eyes violet,” referring to the two-time Oscar-winning actress’s striking violet eyes.
The lines blend pain and beauty through referring to crying so profoundly that one’s blue eyes turn violet. It justly mirrors women’s emotional resilience and graceful personalities.
