Nas is reflecting on hip-hop and its evolution, as well as talking about two icons in the rap scene, Clipse and Kendrick Lamar.

Clipse, the hip-hop duo comprised of brothers Gene "Malice" and Terrence "Pusha T" Thornton, has just made a comeback after a long hiatus and the entrepreneur is crediting them with a big achievement, along with the Not Like Us singer.

In an interview with Complex, the Grammy winner stated, “I used to say [that] Hip-Hop is dead. It is kind of dead, but we have to think about it, in a sense, like that, because if you think about it, this year is really incredible. I mean, Kendrick’s been on a roll, Clipse cooking, Legend Has It [series], Mass Appeal.”

Nas also said, “I think rap is timeless, and yeah, Hip-Hop is timeless, Hip-Hop keeps reinventing itself. It keeps staying current even if it’s a certain artist that’s not doing it no more. The art form in itself will find a new person to keep pushing it.”

The beloved rapper also gave props to the women contributing to the genre, adding that the younger artists are contributing to keeping the rap scene relevant and thriving.
