Brandy Norwood has spoken out after suddenly exiting the stage during the Chicago stop of The Boy Is Mine Tour, which she co-headlines with Monica.
The Grammy-winning artist revealed that she “experienced dehydration and feelings of wanting to faint” before cutting her performance short at the United Center on Saturday night.
Brandy explained that she later “went from the arena to see a doctor nearby” for medical attention.
“To my dear fans in Chicago, thank you all for the overwhelming love, support, and, most importantly, your prayers,” she said in a statement. “I sincerely apologize for the abrupt end to last night’s performance in Chicago. After weeks of nonstop rehearsals, last night I experienced dehydration and feelings of wanting to faint, everyone involved agreed that prioritizing my well-being was of the utmost importance.”
Brandy went on to praise her long-time collaborator for her support, adding, “I’m deeply grateful to my sister, Monica, for stepping up with such grace and professionalism and the entire crew for their continued care and support.”
Fans were left puzzled after Brandy’s early exit, as Monica continued the show solo, ending the concert without the pair’s iconic 1998 duet, The Boy Is Mine.
Brandy assured fans she’ll return “stronger and more grateful than ever” for their next show in Indianapolis.
