General Hospital has differentiated itself from its fellow daytime soap operas by dominating the prestigious Emmys.

At the 52nd annual, Daytime Emmys ceremony on Friday, October 17, the show which has been on air since 1963 took home the coveted Outstanding Daytime Drama Series award.

The soap opera with over 15,000 episodes was competing against Days of Our Lives and The Young and the Restless.

General Hospital’s big win is a repeat of last year, when they also won in the same category, but what’s more impressive is that the soap opera also had six other wins out of its 16 nominations in 2025.

Notably, General Hospital is set up in the fictional city of Port Charles, with characters and actors exiting and re-returning to it.
