Tangled, which is originally based on the Grimm brothers’ story Rapunzel, was announced to be getting a a live-action remake.

One of the most admired films of Disney might feature Scarlett Johansson for the antagonist role as Mother Gothel, which was originally voiced by Donna Murphy.

Although the beloved actress is in talks for the character, the idea of Tangled live-action was heavily contested online.

One of the X users warned they will not give importance to the new project “if they mess up with the casting again” like “Snow White” as the studio “keep ruining it.”

Meanwhile, many users started giving their opinion who they would wish to see on the big screen. A fan asked if they “can get Sabrina Carpenter not Scarlett” as the villain.

On the other hand, someone pointed out that the 40-year-old is not appropriate for being Mother Gothel because of her age, noting: “It needs to be a starmaker, not a star-vehicle.”

Referring to the backlash on the last princess film, a netizen slammed the haters to not watch or “even acknowledge it exists… let others enjoy.”

The project, which was initially put on hold in April, is being directed by Michael Gracey, the filmmaker of The Greatest Showman.

Did Snow White live action flop?

The “woke” Snow White live-action flopped at the box office with a budget of $270 million where the failure was linked to “wrongly” casting Rachel Zegler in the lead role.

Her political differences with Gal Gadot, who played the evil queen, were also blamed for the box office failure.
