Prince Harry’s Africa charity drama is a ‘wake-up call’, expert warns

Prince Harry has been dealt another major blow to his charity work in Africa, and a royal expert says it should be a “wake-up call” for the Duke of Sussex to rethink how he operates.

Just months after stepping down from Sentebale, the HIV charity he co-founded in 2006, Harry is now facing renewed scrutiny over his involvement with African Parks, a non-profit conservation group where he serves as a board member and formerly held the role of president.

In response, African Parks said it is in talks to “better understand the government’s position” and find a path forward.

Royal commentator Jennie Bond told The Mirror the fallout reflects growing challenges for Harry. “He isn’t directly implicated, but this latest development shows that running charities is complex,” she said.

“Perhaps he’d be wiser to use his influence to support established causes rather than getting involved in their management.”

Bond added that while Harry’s Invictus Games remain a “clear success,” his recent setbacks reveal “how difficult the charitable world can be, even for a prince.”
