Channing Tatum is reflecting on the movie industry, streaming platforms and the lack of good movies in comparison to many mediocre ones.
The Magic Mike star disclosed that it is confusing for actors to choose which projects to go for, and that they are being encouraged to go for the less impressive ones with good monetary value.
In his sit down chat with Sean Evans for Hot Ones, the Roofman star stated. “It really feels like, at times, that you’re incentivized to make bad things to get paid.
Channing continued, “Rather than make something really, really good, for the f**king people that actually get to see these things and [for the type of] people that I want to see these movies, the person that I was when I was a kid. And I want good movies.”
The 21 Jump Street actor also talked about streaming platforms, adding that they are causing a disruption in the film industry but that he believes that it will pay off eventually.
Elsewhere in the episode, Channing took digs at his own past projects, namely Dear John which he feels is a generic movie and Deadpool & Wolverine, which he doesn’t fully associate with since his role wasn’t too extensive.
Channing has been open about his diagnosis with dyslexia and attention deficit disorder (ADD).
