Sean Diddy Combs reflected on his “disgusting, shameful,” and “sick” behavior as he addressed the sentencing judge in the courtroom while also offering apologies.
On Friday, October 3, Combs is set to be sentenced after being convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.
While addressing the sentencing judge, Combs started by thanking the judge for allowing him to speak: “One of the hardest things I’ve had to handle is to be quiet, not able to express how sorry I am for my actions.”
During his speech, Combs extended his apologies to Casandra Elizabeth Ventura, known mononymously as Cassie, for any physical or emotional harm he caused her.
The convicted rapper said, “I don’t take that lightly.”
He further apologised to Cassie’s family and to Jane, noting, “I didn’t mean to hurt you. I’m sorry I brought you into my mess.”
Combs added another apology to all victims of domestic violence, saying he knows that the “disgusting, despicable video” of him beating Cassie was triggering for people around the world.
“My actions were disgusting, shameful, sick. I was sick,” he said in a resolute tone. “I’m not this larger-than-life person. I’m just a human being. ... I got lost in excess. I got lost in my ego.”
He regarded domestic violence as a burden he would be carrying for the rest of his life and blamed his past drug use for his behavior.
Combs’ voice broke as he apologised to his mother and children: “I failed you as a son. You taught me better. You raised me better,” he wept.
