American hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs is in court in New York where he will be sentenced.
The rapper, whose trial began in May, was convicted on two charges in July and his sentencing date was set for October 3.
Now, Judge Arun Subramanian has said that the rapper could face up to six to seven years in prison for his crimes.
The judge also mentioned that he sees no reason to depart from the sentencing guidelines.
The prosecution had requested for a 11 year sentence meanwhile Diddy’s lawyers asked for 14 months.
Diddy has already served 12 months in prison which could be deducted from his total sentence.
Prosecutor Christy Slavik said, “Today is about accountability and justice.”
The music mogul even wrote a letter to Judge Arun Subramanian on Thursday, the night before his sentencing.
In the letter, the musician apologised for his wrongdoings and all “the hurt and pain” he had caused by his misconduct.
The 55-year-old was convicted on two counts of transportation for prostitution and acquitted of racketeering and sex trafficking.
