Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert, never shy of a political punchline, joined forces this week in a one-off crossover that mixed comedy with raw confessions.

The pair, known for their stinging criticism of Donald Trump, opened up about the moment they were each yanked off air.

The 61-year-old host, who rose to fame on Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report before taking over The Late Show, quizzed Kimmel: “Did you ever think the president of the United States would be celebrating your unemployment?”

The 57-year-old comedian, never one to mince words, shot back: “I mean, that son of a b****h is really unbelievable.”

“Mr. Son of a B****h,” Colbert cheekily corrected, prompting the audience to roar with approval.

For the unversed, Colbert’s own show is set to bow out in May 2026 after CBS confirmed its cancellation earlier this summer.

Meanwhile, Kimmel was suspended in September following a furious backlash from Trump and pressure from FCC chair Brendan Carr, after he joked about the suspect in the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Trump, true to form, couldn’t resist crowing about both hosts’ misfortunes on social media, gloating over what he called “justice served.”

Kimmel admitted he genuinely thought his career was finished. “I thought, that’s it, it’s over. I’m never coming back,” he confessed, recalling he even got the bad news while in the bathroom.

Colbert too relived his own grim moment, joking that his wife Evelyn teased him after a long meeting: “What happened? You get cancelled?”
