Actor Rick Moranis is ending his decades long retirement to return for the highly anticipated sequel, Spaceballs 2.
He will be reprising his role from the 1987 original, namely that of Lord Dark Helmet. Joining him will be Bill Pullman as Lone Starr, Mel Brooks as Yogurt, Daphne Zuniga as Princess Vespa, and George Wyner as Colonel Sandurz.
New cast members include comedy icons like Josh Gad, Keke Palmer, Lewis Pullman and Anthony Carrigan.
Josh Greenbaum will be at the helm with a script from Gad, Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez.
Although details are being kept under wraps, Amazon MGM joked that “the title is rumored to be the name of the movie, and plot details are being described as information about what happens in the story.”
Another logline cheekily remarked that it is a “non-prequel non-reboot sequel part two but with reboot elements franchise expansion film.”
Moranis is known best for his roles in comedies like Ghostbusters, Little Shop of Horrors and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids.
His break from acting came after the tragic death of his wife, Ann Belsky, due to cancer in 1991.
