Prince Harry wins hearts in Ukraine after recent visit: I feel him as a brother

Prince Harry has been hailed as “amazing” and even described as “like a brother” by Ukrainians after his recent visits to the war-torn country.

The Duke of Sussex, 41, travelled to Kyiv and Lviv earlier this month at the invitation of the Ukrainian government and the Superhumans Centre, which supports amputees and those seriously wounded in the conflict.

Ukrainian paramedic Yuliia "Taira" Paievska, who was captured and held prisoner by Russian forces during the siege of Mariupol in 2022, praised Harry’s dedication.

She told the Express: “I feel him as a brother, like guys from the frontline, the same feeling. He’s really amazing. He’s honest.”

During the trip, Harry met with Ukraine’s Minister for Veteran Affairs, Natalia Kalmykova, to discuss how his Invictus Games Foundation could expand support for wounded soldiers.

Ukraine first competed in the Invictus Games eight years ago, with Taira saying the event remains “invaluable” for rehabilitation and morale.

A former British Army officer who served two tours in Afghanistan, Harry has vowed to do “everything possible” to help Ukraine’s injured military personnel.
