Olivia Rodrigo has joined the list of stars that have raised their voice against Jimmy Kimmel’s shock cancellation over the comments he made about Charlie Kirk’s shooter.
The Vampire singer took to her Instagram stories to reshare the statement made by SAG-AFTRA's about the matter.
In the original post, the union calls the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel Live! a suppression and form of retaliation that endangers people’s freedom.
The statement continues that it stands with all its artists and defends their rights to express their point of views and listeners rights to hear them, to which Olivia also added some words.
Underneath the post she wrote, “so upset over this blatant censorship and abuse of power. I stand with Jimmy Kimmel and I stand for freedom of speech.”
The three-time Grammy nominee also shared an address made by David Letterman, in which he also condemned ABC, the network airing the show and its broadcaster’s decision.
“You can’t go around firing somebody because you’re fearful or trying to suck up to an authoritarian—a criminal—administration in the Oval Office. That’s just not how this works,” the comedian stated.
Notably, Olivia has been open about being anti-Trump, even endorsing Kamala Harris in the 2024 elections.
Olivia has been repeatedly accused of plagiarism since her debut album Sour came out, and she has then proceeded to grant parties like Taylor Swift songwriting credits.
