‘Emily in Paris’ star Lucien Laviscount teases season 5 love triangle

Lucien Laviscount and Lily Collins' romantic chemistry has shrunk as Emily in Paris shifts its focus back to Emily’s unresolved connection with Gabriel (Lucas Bravo).

With three months left before Netflix’s glossy rom-com drama debuts its fifth season, Laviscount joins PEOPLE to tease the upcoming episodes.

The Scream Queens alum debuted in Emily in Paris in Season 2 as Alfie, a new love interest for Emily (Collins), who has become further entangled in her love story with her neighbour, Gabriel.

Emily and Alfie’s romance has fizzled out, with Emily now embarking on a fresh chapter in Rome alongside Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini), though the shift only promises more drama on the horizon.

"All I'm gonna say is strap in," Laviscount said. "Because it goes left, so far left, and a little bit right this season."

The actor spoke to the outlet at a New York City event celebrating John Varvatos’ 25th anniversary and the launch of the brand’s newest fragrance, John Varvatos XX Elixir.

"I didn't know what to expect, none of us do before we get the scripts, and we got the scripts for this season and it's…” he paused, before teasing, “Yeah, I don't think anyone could have foreseen that coming.”

However, Laviscount noted that it was “amazing” to be back with the cast members and resume filming.

"It’s good to be back... to be back in Paris,” he said. “We shot quite a little bit in Rome as well."
