Famed director Tim Burton has split from his partner of two years, Italian model and actress, Monica Bellucci.
A joint statement read, "It is with much respect and deep care for each other that Monica Bellucci and Tim Burton have decided to part ways.”
Their romance was initially confirmed back in 2023, with him having cast her in the sequel to his 1988 hit, Beetlejuice.
She took on the role of a monster-esque creature who sought revenge from her former husband, played by Michael Keaton.
The star has two children which she shares with ex-husband, Vincent Cassel, with whom she was married to for 14 years, having separated in 2013.
Burton, on the other hand, had been in a long term relationship with actress Helena Bonham Carter, splitting in 2014, and sharing two children.
About being cast in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Bellucci said in 2023, “What I can say … I’m glad I met the man, first of all. It's one of those encounters that rarely happens in life ... I know the man, I love him and now I'm going to meet the director — another adventure begins."
Although Warner Bros. held significant concerns about the sequel flopping, leading to budget cuts, it is largely considered to be a success, bringing in $400 million globally in the first weeks of release.
