Will Smith, best known as a multi-talented actor, sees his long-delayed Netflix film Fast and Loose finally moving forward with a new director at the helm.
The movie was once attached to blockbuster veteran Michael Bay, who had worked with Smith on Bad Boys and its hit sequel.
Unfortunately, Bay exited the project last year following creative disagreements over the film’s direction.
According to the reports, the Men in Black actor wanted a lighter, funnier tone, while the 60-year-old filmmaker pushed for pure action.
Now director John Swab, known for the gritty thriller King Ivory, has been chosen to take over.
Studio insiders reveal that his approach left executives impressed and earned Smith’s approval.
Notably, Fast and Loose centres on a man who wakes up in the Mexican city of Tijuana with no memory.
As he searches for answers, he realises he has been living a double life, juggling roles as a feared crime boss and an undercover CIA agent.
The film will be produced by Hollywood heavyweight Jerry Bruckheimer alongside Chad Oman and Smith’s Westbrook company, which he runs with his wife Jada Pinkett Smith.
The news comes shortly after the 56-year-old iconic actor struck a new deal with Paramount to develop large-scale films through Westbrook.
After the 2022 Oscars scandal, the rapper's Hollywood future looked uncertain.
But with the success of Bad Boys: Ride or Die earlier this year and Fast and Loose back on track, the actor seems firmly back in business.
Will Smith made headlines at the 94th Academy Awards on March 27, 2022, when he walked onstage and slapped comedian Chris Rock during Rock’s presentation of the Best Documentary Feature award.
