Princess Anne’s husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, has been given one of the most prestigious honours in the royal family, making him the latest royal spouse to join an elite group alongside Queen Camilla and Kate Middleton.
On August 21, King Charles, 76, quietly invested Sir Tim, 70, with the Insignia of a Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order, the Court Circular confirmed.
The title, established by Queen Victoria in 1896, is the highest honor within the Order and recognizes personal service to the monarch or royal family.
The retired Royal Navy officer now joins other senior royals with the same distinction, including Queen Camilla, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, and Princess Kate, who received her Dame Grand Cross in 2019 on her wedding anniversary.
Princess Anne, Sir Tim’s wife, was made a Dame Grand Cross in 1974 and has served as Grand Master of the Order since 2007.
With the honor comes new regalia, including a sash badge and breast star, which Sir Tim may debut at upcoming state events.
Although not a working royal, he has been a loyal presence at major occasions like Trooping the Colour and Remembrance Day throughout his 33-year marriage to Anne.
