Emmy-winning actress Jennifer Aniston is set to take on a new project, the TV adaptation of Jennette McCurdy’s bestselling memoir I’m Glad My Mom Died.

The Friends alum will portray McCurdy’s abusive mother while also serving as an executive producer on the series.

Executive producer Sharon Horgan revealed to Us Weekly that Aniston has been attached to the project from the very beginning.

“She’s part of the creative team, so it wasn’t what made us see her [in the role]. She was part of the pitch,” Horgan explained.

Horgan also highlighted Aniston’s enthusiasm for the project, saying: “We all just responded to the book. It’s such an extraordinary story, and it’s also so extraordinarily written. Jennette is such a talent. Now it’s just going through the process of taking something from book to screen.”

Aniston’s casting was first revealed in July, though it has yet to be announced who will play McCurdy herself.
