Netflix breakout star Noah LaLonde found catharsis in his character Cole Walter’s storyline in Season 2, adding that he always sees the role as a younger version of himself.

Speaking to PEOPLE, the My Life with the Walter Boys heartthrob said Cole’s storyline was “interesting in a self-reflective way."

In Season 2, Cole steps into his senior year as the school’s golden-boy quarterback, only to face the tough reality of figuring out who he is beyond football after a career-ending injury.

“This whole process of embodying Cole Walter has been very much doing the thing I just described, in looking back at my own life, because I'm a little bit older than Cole,” LaLonde added. “I always think of him as a younger version of myself.”

However, there are moments where he feels differently, as the actor admitted he sometimes wants to slap him.

“When he's out there getting drunk, or doing drugs, or whatever he is doing," LaLonde said, explaining why he occasionally has that urge.

“But the whole process with football was really the first push into making me understand where his head is at, because I had to address that in my own life when I stopped being a hockey player, that search for a new identity,” he continued.

My Life with the Walter Boys Season 2 premieres Thursday, Aug. 28, on Netflix.
