Was Meghan Markle 'mocking' Princess Charlotte in viral clip?

A body language expert has shed new light on a viral moment involving Meghan Markle and Princess Charlotte, insisting that what many thought they saw was not the full story.

The Duchess of Sussex, 43, joined the royal family in 2018 after her wedding to Prince Harry, but scrutiny of her every move began as early as their 2017 engagement. 

From the start, Meghan’s behaviour at public events was closely analysed by royal watchers eager to decide whether she “fit in” with the Firm.

One moment that drew attention occurred during Trooping the Colour in 2018. 

Meghan was seen on the Buckingham Palace balcony alongside Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their children, including a then-three-year-old Princess Charlotte. 

Footage appeared to show Meghan laughing after Charlotte tugged at her dress, sparking speculation online about whether the Duchess was mocking the young royal.

However, experts say Meghan’s body language showed she was simply sharing in a lighthearted moment rather than laughing at Charlotte. 

Analysts argue that public assumptions often misrepresent Meghan’s expressions, particularly during her early days as a working royal.

The re-examined clip has reignited debate about how Meghan’s every gesture has been scrutinised since joining the monarchy.
