Kate Middleton has interrupted her summer holiday to send a supportive message to England’s Red Roses ahead of their opening match at the Women’s Rugby World Cup.

The Princess of Wales, 42, who serves as patron of both the Rugby Football Union (RFU) and the Rugby Football League (RFL), took to X from her joint account with Prince William to wish the team luck as they face the USA tonight.

Retweeting England Rugby’s post, Kate wrote: “Wishing the Red Roses the very best as they kick off their Women's Rugby World Cup campaign tonight. I look forward to cheering you on and seeing the team rise to the challenge on home soil!”

She signed off with a simple “C” for Catherine.

The Red Roses’ first game kicks off at 7:30 PM at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light, four years after their heartbreaking defeat to New Zealand.

She has since shown her enthusiasm for the sport, even attending training sessions at Twickenham.

Prince William, meanwhile, is patron of the Welsh Rugby Union, while Princess Anne represents Scotland as patron of the Scottish Rugby Union.
