Meghan Markle continues to face criticism both in the UK and the US, with a royal expert claiming she is “disliked intensely” for the way she has handled her relationships with both the Royal Family and her own relatives.
Speaking to Fox News, royal expert Ingrid Seward said: “The flea in the ointment really is very much Meghan. She’s disliked intensely by a large number of monarchists in this country. They see her as very damaging to the Royal Family.”
Seward added that Meghan’s strained image extends across the Atlantic: “I think a lot of people in America feel the same. They don’t like that Meghan reportedly dissed her husband’s family and dissed her own family.”
Her fractured relationship with her father, Thomas Markle, has also added to the drama.
Thomas, who missed her 2018 wedding due to health issues, has never met Prince Archie or Princess Lilibet, and has said he “longs to meet his grandchildren before he dies.”
Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020 alongside Prince Harry, the Duchess of Sussex has released a Netflix docuseries, given a headline-making Oprah Winfrey interview, and supported Harry’s tell-all memoir Spare.
